CodeWorks 2009: Recap

CodeWorks 2009 is over.

Before I go any further, you have to understand the undertaking here...

By comparison, imagine your last major project launch. In the last few days, there are always those last few tweaks, those last few problems, those brief moments of panic... which turn into a sense of calm and relief afterwards.

Well, CodeWorks was a little different. Instead of that sense of calm and relief afterwards, we packed and headed to the next city to do it all again: Seven times in 14 days. Luckily, I only did the first three cities (San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Dallas) as staff and was in DC as an attendee.

The Good

php|tek 2009: Sebastian, Stefan, and Arne on Code Reviews

Sebastian Bergmann, Stefan Priebsch, and Arne Blankerts talking about Code Review, Best Practices, and their thoughts on each.

I grabbed them for this discussion as their session on Code Review received quite a bit of negative intention questioning their motives in reviewing Open Source projects.

php|tek 2009: Robert Purcell and Matt Schraeder on Conference Thoughts

Just after the closing keynote, I talked with Robert and Matt about the conference, their thoughts, and the chaos that went on.

php|tek 2009 Unconference

Update 20 May 209: The submissions for this unconference are closed. Please check out the php|tek 2009 Unconference schedule here.

Well, we're just about two weeks from php|tek 2009. While many of the presenters are touching up their slides, brushing up their talks, and thinking of the pizza that's yet to come... I have a different question for you:

What are you doing?

As of today, I'm officially collecting ideas for the php|tek unconference. As I get ideas (I already have quite a few), I'll post them on Chris Cornutt 's site Joind.in under the php|tek Unconference event. Then all you have to do is register on the site, vote for the session, and feel free to leave feedback.

What's an UnConference you ask?
